- me in the evening: oh, staying up late isn't bad, I'll manage tomorrow
- me in the morning: AM I A FUCKING IDIOT
I want to explain to you what I mean when I tell you you’re beautiful because its something I say to you a lot. I don’t just mean that you are physically attractive although you are very much so. I am constantly blown away by your eyes, your smile, every curve of your unbelievable body, every facial expression. The strength but gentleness and affection in your touch, your skin and the very structure of your bones amazes me. The way you look when you first wake up, with makeup, without it, after the shower, naked and clothed you are always gorgeous. But you are also beautiful in your defiance of traditional beauty standards, in the way you create your own loveliness and the way you wear it, the way it surrounds you. You are unique and self made and genuine. I also see beauty in every way you move, from the way you open your eyes when you first wake up to the way you walk and carry yourself. Your beauty is the way the energy shifts when you enter a room, the way you emit light every time you smile. Your passion is beautiful. You are beautiful in your refusal to adapt to a broken society and in your rejection of the lies we are constantly fed that others swallow so easily and without question. Your beauty is in the way you question everything, disassemble and study the fragments that make up a perverse culture and fight to fix it. Your beauty is in your dedication, your compassion, your strength, your ability to empathize. Your passion for your cause is one of the most beautiful things i have found in another person and to think that anybody would ask you to dim that passion, your very soul, breaks my heart and disgusts me. Your beauty is in your weakness and your strength, on days when you are hard as stone and nothing can break you and on days when you are soft as clay feeling broken down and vulnerable. You are beautiful on your good days and your worst ones. Your beauty is in your voice, your eyes when you speak and the way you express your feelings and ideas but also your willingness to learn and listen. Your beauty is in your honesty. Your beauty is in the very way you occupy space in the universe. Your beauty is in the way you are made up of the same atoms as me and the stars and the ocean. But its also in the curve of your hipbones, the way you drink your coffee and the way you say my name. You are beautiful in the way you interact with the people you love and the way you nurture and care for them. Your beauty is all of this and so much more that I can’t find words to describe but will continue to try.
They leave me and I love them more.Maurice Sendak (via r-ilatine)
Whenever I hear the "Women are paid $.78 for the man’s $1" I flip it around.
Men make $1.22 for every woman’s $1.
It interests me that even the most common simple measure of gender inequality is firmly based on male-as-normative …
this is an interesting point, although mathematically inaccurate: assuming the women:men, 0.78:1 ratio is correct, men make $1.28 for every woman’s $1
White people are still the ~standard so that’s not so revolutionary.
A white man makes $1.34 for every dollar that a black man makes
A white man makes $1.52 for every dollar that a latino man makes
A white man makes $1.24 for every dollar that a white woman makes
A white man makes $1.44 for every dollar that a black woman makes
A white man makes $1.67 for every dollar that a latina woman makes
That’s some bullshit right there.
